Foreclosure deeds, not home sales, dominate July deed recordings in Chesterfield

The Hampshire County Registry of Deeds recorded 11 transactions for Chesterfield properties between July 3 and Aug. 1, but only four disclosed a sale price, ranging from $25,000 to $160,000 with a median of $61,500. The month's largest disclosed transaction was the $160,000 transfer of 59 Cummington Rd from Jesse T. and Jessica L. McMillan to Freedom Credit Union. Most recordings were not conventional sales: four were foreclosure-style transfers to banks or credit unions, two were homestead declarations, and others included a family trust transfer, an estate tax affidavit and a tax lien. The 11 recordings were spread across 11 different streets with no geographic clustering.
