Select Board reviews FY27 budget with Finance Committee; supports health insurance boost.

CHESTERFIELD — The Chesterfield Select Board and Finance Committee reviewed the FY27 budget and warrant with focus on school assessment increases and targeted personnel adjustments. Chair Roger Fuller and member Trish Colson-Montgomery joined Finance Committee members Lee Manchester, Larry Cervelli, Sarah Hamilton, John Follet, Darlene McVeigh, Carol Jolly, and Noah Berman in approving a one-hour weekly increase for the Transfer Station junior attendant ($6,709 total) and a one-hour increase for the Financial Clerk ($6,780 total), while declining a $1,000 Cemetery Superintendent raise for insufficient justification. The Board committed to raising the town's health insurance contribution to 65 percent from 60 percent, reducing employee cost-sharing from 40 to 35 percent.
All other expense lines are level funded with three percent COLA raises. Hampshire Regional High School and New Hingham Regional Elementary School assessments represent the largest budget pressures; Smith Vocational tuition is pending. Two Cemetery Commission warrant articles were withdrawn, one for an Ireland Street Cemetery gate (pending Verizon easement clarification) and one for survey work already previously funded.
