Select Board approves winter spending overages, backs library ADA grant timeline.
Select Board · Meeting of January 26, 2026
Chesterfield Select Board approves winter emergency and endorses library ADA project timeline. The board unanimously declared a winter spending emergency allowing overages in Winter Expense and Winter Wages lines after Highway Superintendent Matt Smith reported both lines exhausted or nearly so. Library Trustees Jen Peotter and Amy Gavalis requested roughly $125,000 at the next Annual Town Meeting to fund an ADA bathroom renovation, with the hope of applying for a state grant opening May 1 and receiving awards in fall 2026; Town Administrator Brenda Lessard was directed to confirm grant award timing with the Massachusetts Office on Disabilities.
The board also unanimously approved a revised key policy and a revised Town Hall Building Use Form with seasonal rental provisions.
