Select Board approves removal of two maples on North Road for MassDOT project.
Select Board · Meeting of May 26, 2026
CHESTERFIELD — Select Board approves mixed outcome on disputed North Road trees. The board voted unanimously to remove two maples and preserve three on 92 North Road as part of MassDOT's North Road and Damon Pond Road reconstruction project affecting approximately 120 trees. Homeowner Will Trienens objected after being told in a 2024 meeting the trees would remain; Roger Fuller cited safety concerns for the two trees only 27 inches from the new pavement and noted root damage typically kills trees within three to five years during road work.
The compromise preserves three of the five disputed maples.
