CHESTERFIELD — Select Board addresses library flag policy concerns over free-speech risk. Town Counsel advised limiting town building flags to Federal, State, and local emblems, while Library Trustees sought to include diversity-recognition flags from Mass.gov; the board cautioned that displaying group flags could expose the town to litigation if similar requests were refused. The board directed staff to gather information on BESS application fees and asked Police Chief Peter Fappiano to obtain additional surveillance-system quotes.

Vacancies on the Town Office Building Committee and Public Safety Building Committee will be addressed at a September 16 meeting. The board scheduled a September 16 warrant-signing meeting for a Special Town Meeting on September 30 featuring articles from the Cemetery Commission and Historical Commission.
