Select Board approves final Annual Town Meeting warrant with budget adjustments.
Select Board · Meeting of April 14, 2026
Chesterfield Select Board unanimously approves final Annual Town Meeting warrant after removing five cemetery-related articles and adjusting funding sources. Chair Roger Fuller, Vice Chair Trish Colson-Montgomery, and member Don Willard approved Articles 1 through 26 covering winter expenses, capital improvements, OPEB, MLP operations, library renovation, and zoning amendments. Cemetery Commission Chair Dee Cinner agreed to fund four cemetery items--a gate at Ireland Street, row markers, stone wall repair, and stone bench repair--from revolving funds rather than Free Cash, and the board excluded a fifth article for tree removal.
The board rejected a Citizen's Petition for survey opt-out authority, deferring the matter to a fall Special Town Meeting, citing preference to manage Free Cash more conservatively. General discussion revealed a $55,000 shortfall from shifting funding sources away from Free Cash.
