Finance Committee approves Hampshire Regional assessment increase to $626,939.

Finance Committee · Meeting of March 18, 2026

Chesterfield Finance Committee absorbs $5,594 Hampshire Regional School District assessment hike in working budget. Chair Lee Manchester and members Sarah Hamilton, Noah Berman, Carol Jolly, and John Follet incorporated the increase, raising the total to $626,939--a 28 percent jump over FY 2026--and reducing available surplus to $32,000. The committee deferred implementation of the Collins Center compensation survey recommendations pending further analysis of whether to adopt the plan in FY 2027 or pursue a cost-of-living adjustment for all town employees instead.

The committee also agreed not to count $1,500-per-month revenue from a temporary Dunham Library rental to the state Transportation Department as ongoing revenue.
