Chesterfield approves $4.29M general fund budget for fiscal 2027

Chesterfield voters approve $4.29M general fund budget, authorize $150K borrowing for highway backhoe. At the May 11 Annual Town Meeting, the town also voted unanimously to commit $400,000 to the Capital Projects Stabilization Fund and approved a $200,000 Free Cash transfer for an ADA bathroom addition at the Chesterfield Public Library, with full reimbursement expected from the Massachusetts Office on Disabilities. Three zoning amendments passed narrowly, including clarification on accessory dwelling unit short-term rental bans and hydrological consultant provisions for large-scale solar sites.

The town reduced broadband network debt by $161,569 from operations retained earnings and authorized new officer terms beginning July 1, 2027, rather than May 1.
